Privateer Press Launches New Trencher Theme Force Expansion
October 11, 2017
Bellevue, WA — Privateer Press is releasing its first-ever theme force for WARMACHINE and HORDE. Theme forces are armies designed around specific military roles and allow players to field armies with a unified aesthetic and rules that are designed to work together well on the tabletop.
The Trenchers Theme Force expands the primary infantry of the Cygnar Faction and features 10 new models for the Faction, including all-new Trencher Long Gunners, Combat Engineers, and the first playable structure model in WARMACHINE, the Block House. Additionally, the new Trencher Army Theme Box features Commander Anson Hitch and the new Patrol Dog. Combined with the currently available Cygnar Battlegroup starter box, the theme box allows players to field a complete 35-point trencher army.
“Like never before, theme forces delve into the iconic military roles of the Factions in WARMACHINE and HORDES,” Chief Creative Officer Matt Wilson said. “With a selection of new models augmenting the existing models in each Faction, the theme forces feel like brand-new armies unto themselves, making what was old new again and ensuring the WARMACHINE and HORDES play environment is always fresh and exciting for our existing players as well as for new players joining our community.”
The limited-edition Trencher Army Box is available for $109.99 MSRP and contains an eight-page Trencher Primer, which introduces players to the “Gravedigger” theme force background and rules.
Theme Forces are being further supported in the all-new No Quarter Prime magazine, launching ahead of the Trencher Theme Force in September. Each issue of No Quarter Prime will include an extensive feature covering in depth the history and combat methods of the theme force releasing around the same time. The theme force feature also includes the rules for the theme force, all-new scenarios and game-modifying rules inspired by the theme force, and a squad list allowing players to play the theme in the upcoming Company of Iron skirmish rules for WARMACHINE and HORDES, also releasing in October.
The Trencher models and army box are available now from Privateer Press and local game stores.

About WARMACHINE and HORDES
WARMACHINE and HORDES are dynamic, 32 mm tabletop miniatures games set in the steam-powered science-fiction/fantasy world of the Iron Kingdoms. WARMACHINE and HORDES use the same rules and can be played independently or against each other, differing in the range of factions available in each game, and the manner in which each side wages war. In WARMACHINE, each player commands an army of detailed miniatures, including a warcaster, an elite soldier-sorcerer who possesses arcane power and the ability to mentally control a force of steam-powered mechanical automatons known as warjacks, and supporting soldiers. In HORDES, players command of a battle mage known as a warlock who can control an army of powerful warbeasts and warriors into combat.
