Hey terrainspotters – welcome back to another blog talking about everyone’s favourite pre-assembled, plastic, post-apocalyptic scenery: TerrainCrate! Today, we’re talking about how the new range integrates with The Walking Dead range.
Back in the early days of TerrainCrate 2 planning, we always knew that we wanted scenery that could be used in The Walking Dead. Although there are plenty of awesome MDF buildings – from Mantic and third parties – we sometimes felt the option for scatter scenery or pieces to ‘decorate’ your gaming tables was a little lacking.
This meant we went through the scenarios for The Walking Dead: All Out War and looked at the sort of things you might need for specific missions or when creating your own bespoke missions. We also looked at items that were were tough to get, like tents, shopping mall pieces (a staple for any post-apocalyptic setting) and hospital beds. All of these are super useful for different games, but fitted in with The Walking Dead particularly well.
A great example of this is the Abandoned Factory set. This was specifically designed with Here’s Negan in mind. So, you’ll find blocking scenery required to set up the missions and even specific objectives, like Negan’s infamous furnace. And if you haven’t got Here’s Negan, then the factory comes with loads of great blocking terrain, which is great for modern skirmish games and would even look cool in Deadzone too.
Today we’re making the link between TerrainCrate and The Walking Dead even closer. This is thanks to a selection of free bonus scenarios for The Walking Dead: All Out War that use three of the TerrainCrate sets: Hospital War, Quicki-Mart and Crystal Peaks Camp. You can download them here.
The new TerrainCrate sets will be going up for pre-order tomorrow on the Mantic website and will be in stores later this month. We can’t wait to see some of the Walking Dead scenarios you create using these cool pieces!
